Windshield Washer pump not working
Hey all,
Just picked up my new used 06 manual xb with 9000 miles on it. Winshiled washer tank is full to the brim of fluid, but nothing is spraying out. I don't even hear a sound from the pump like you can hear in most cars. Ideas? I couldn't find a listing for a seperate fuse for that washer pump anywhere or am I missing that?
thanks

Same thing happened to me with my 05. It could be the washer fluid. Whatever I put in the last time actually froze, but it was all they had at the time. I didn't check the freezing temp. I bought -20F stuff and was slowly replacing it. Just did a 200 mile trip in the sleet/slush this weekend. Pump didn't work. It sucked.
However like you said, the pump did not make any sound at all. Not even the little noise you are supposed to hear. Pure quiet, but the wipers moved. When the weather got a bit warmer (37F) it melted enough that I sprayed out the entire resevoir, and refilled with the -20F stuff. No problems even after sitting over night. I had a clean windshield for the whole trip home. And the pump makes the normal noise when its shooting.
I don't know what is freezing but it makes the pump not work in the least. If it doesn't work when its warmer then its probably broke.

Locate the pump- see if there's power and ground at the terminals when you call for the pump to run... You just need a cheapo meter or test light, somebody to work the switch, maybe... if that's not it, d/l the diagrams, look elsewhere...
