If you bought your Scion in Florida you didn't get the Toyota extended warranty. Toyota doesn't own their distributorship in the southeast (and also in the Texas region). The company that does sells their own extended warranty, and it's not the same as the Toyota product. If the salesman told you is was, he lied, plain and simple.

This is the same reason that Scions sold in the southeast offer dealer options and packages that aren't available (except aftermarket) at most Toyota dealers.

Well, I checked my GEICO policy and I do have the MBI already. My husband added it and he did not even know what it was. Thanks to all for the information.

I purchased it from Scion, and it has a full refund money back if not used by the end of the warrantee. I've had extended warrantee for my other Tacoma and used it serveral times. Ex. I went in for timing belt job...they found the water pump leaking, so they never charged me for the pump and labor. Truck was having a hard time starting due to starter. Brought it in, no charge. I don't know if it added up to the $1700 premium for all the times I brought my truck to the dealership, but having that peace of mind was a luxury. And I got a loaner free of charge.

Consider the cost as a maintenance charge you pay upfront and use as you need it. For 7 yrs of coverage, I think thats pretty fair price. If you don't use it you'll get your money back.

I hope you don't plan to pay off your loan before the term is up. I did that and my gap insurance was WASTED completely when my vehicle was totaled.

It was a 60 month term, paid it off in roughly 25 and I still can't get anything out of it.

Gap is mostly a waste unless you do 5 yrs. or more on the loan with very little down. On Scions an extended warranty is also a waste. I'm at 31K and it hasn't seen the dealer since I picked it up.

mine will probably be getting a new drivers door lock motor soon, because when its in the 50's tempature wise, the drivers door won't unlock, and you have to crawl through the car to drive it, and I only put 200 down on mine and have a 66 month note
