Heck, bullet proof glass is no more minor damage resistant than regular glass - it 'stars' and 'cracks' just like our windshields. It's only advantage is it's ability to resist penetration better.

If you look at bullet resistant glass after it's been hit, the outer layer(s) are starred and shattered, but little has (usually) made it through the innermost layer. Lemme tell you though, it DOES increase your laundry bill when it takes hits like that!

I just had to fix my windshield this week end cause a rock hit it while in the highway... It only costed me 40 bux to fix at an Auto Glass shop..No insurance used.

The rock left a "web" like crack around the size of a 5 cent coin bit thankfuly it was fixed.

i've had 3 rockchips on my windshield and about 6 paint chips on the hood from debris flying. it really sucks! luckily, i have a bottle of touch up paint. it does seem ridiculous to be touching up my paint every week after washing the box though

as for the reliability of a chipshot guy... well the one i used in norcal has a lifetime guarantee. if the chip starts to spread, he will give me my money back. i called other places and they won't guarantee the "fill". they said it can be used towards a deposit on a new windshield...

Do you guys drive behind Semi's on the highway, and real close to the people in front of you? I have taken my box JUST OVER 29,000 miles since I got it in August of 2004, and I have had maybe 2 or 3 times had a piece of debris hit it... Maybe I just have good luck.

...or it could just be that there is not as much debris on highways in your area...

for the 1st rockchip... i am guilty. i was driving right behind a semi, a pebble or what now flew up from his tire and then a chain detached from under his truck and hit my front bumper. so i deserved that one.

since then, i make sure i am not riding on anyone's tail or behind big trucks. i keep a good 2-3 car distance. every so often though, POP.... another chip. maybe you should send me some of your luck haha!
