I must be really stupid. what are the 'parking lights' for? I mean whats the purpose? They turn on when low beam is on then why are they called parking lights? I know they also come on when the light switch is turned to first position.

What is the bulb type or number? Owner manual just says 5w Single End Bulb (Clear).

 

194 wedge base. 168 will also fit.

 

are you sure? then whats the difference between wedge base and single end? see the attached pic

 

If you are parked and waiting for someone, you can turn your headlights off (courtesy to other motorists) and still have exterior lights on for that someone to spot your vehicle??

 

wow thats something new for me....so if thats whats they are for then why do they remain on when low beam is on? and if I turn low beam off then parking lights will turn off too (unless I dont turn the light switch off all the way). If you do turn off low beam then daytime running light come on and whoever wants to spot me can still spot me.

Anyone else?

 

I have always called them running lights, indicating a running vehicle.

They're the same thing. I've already replaced my front running/parking bulbs with LED 194 bulbs that are frequently referred to as wedge bulbs depending on the manufacturer, and they fit & work perfectly.
