I have a bad 2008 Scion xB Power Steering Module if I buy a new one will I have to have it programmed?

An is there a way to program it myself because I called Toyota looking at the price to program they said
if I have someone or myself install the new one for liability purposes they won't program it.

Looks like everything you need to know here, outside of programming the 'zero point calibration' (I'm sure it's just having the wheel set straight so the ECU 'knows' where 12 o'clock is), for which there also seems to be a 'manual' process...would make it easy and cheap for you.

You might have to re-calibrate the yaw sensor but Most shops can do that. Worst case you can plug it in and see if it works or not. Even in default mode it
'll still work somewhat. It sets the assist level at what you would have at 45 mph.
