Left headlights on, dead battery, Maint required flashes 8 times..
Drove my 2008 xB in the rain to the cycle shop today, left my headlights ON. Can't hear the weak alarm for headlights ON. Get a jump from a mechanic at the shop. Maint required light flashes 8 times and the engine runs rough, 300-400 rpms.
When I get home I unhook the positive battery cable off battery and let it sit for an hour. Put cable back on and cranked it, light still flashes but idle was good. My wife drove it to church tonight and it started running rough again.
I hope jumping it off did not cook something or take a coil pack out??? I am leaving cable unhooked overnight and will test tomorrow. I will start with pulling plug wires to see if it is a coil pack or not.
Any one seen this before or ideas. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Running rough is quite normal after disconnecting the battery. The ECU has to re-learn how the engine runs and will adjust itself over a day or so of driving. The maintenance light flashing is a separate issue, just means that it's getting close to oil change time.
