Red face Oil consumption 2010 Scion xB..

After my own dx of oil problem (1,400 mi. needing oil), after owning xB for a year! How could I have gone this long and not notice? No mention of two warranties (2016 and 2020 end) by Toyota because not on Toyota's list. Previous seller only told me about recalls I took care of. After noticing oil flying out
unusual, I recalled in my 2009 a oil consumption problem ( 2009 passed). I called local Dealership, no help, call Headquarters, I did, talked to two people and their supervisor, no help, no option but paying for it myself. My son has worked for Toyota for 30 years, who cares, still no help. Now checking oil every day,
oh brother...Called local Dealership, went in for oil change and set up for 500 miles to check for oil consumption. OK, last oil put in after last oil change was way before 500 miles. Put in too much by mistake 2 quarts.

Thousands of dollars told if I needed engine reconstruction or secondary reused engine. My son is flipping as I am also. What the heck can we do? Any help in this audience of Scion people? The only number off the engine I could find is V2AE836355..NOTHING ON ANY Scion xB books OR PAPERWORK.
MY 2009 xB was a 2E etc.

Blessings, Starwoman

What I would do:
1. Perform oil and oil filter change. Optional: Add RESTORE (or other stopleak of choice)
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Restore-0...-9-oz/33753852

2. Drive 1000 miles and note amount of oil burnoff
3. Fill oil back to full indicator
4. Keep checking oil every 1000 miles till regular oil change, recommend 3000 miles for diagnosis.

If the level of burnoff is too high for comfort; sell vehicle. If manageable, manage.
For a 2009 one might be comfortable with 1-1.5 qts every 3000 miles. Not ideal but beats engine knock.

15.87% of users reported burning a quart every 3000 miles in this thread: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sci...mption-210772/

34.92% reported burning even more than that.

Chunjee, Thank you for your input. At this present moment, I have gone to Toyota Dealership for the oil consumption test. They put in the 0 #synthetic oil and I will be going back at 500 miles. I had been using 10 # oil synthetic recommented from Toyota service over phone. Then I will know at least something and go from there....
