I own a 2008 Scion XB. I want to improve Performance a bit and was thinking about adding a TRD performance sport exhaust. Does anyone know what the actual dyno tested results are as far as improved horsepower and gas mileage. I was going add a air intake but after looking at my engine I realized that the air was already being taken from the coldest part of the engine compartment. So I just purchased a TRD high performance drop in filter and saved myself $400.00 bucks. If you have any information on the exhaust it would be very much apperciated!

The TRD exhaust isn't really worth it, IMO. It replaces the factory muffler with another muffler, kinda pointless. What I did was weld up a new exhaust section to replace the axle-back, the same portion that the TRD replaces. The difference is that mine is just a pipe, no muffler. The resonator under the middle of the car is restrictive enough that the sound is very mellow. Note that the Borla exhaust for this car is exactly what I've done, just replacing the factory muffler with a pipe.

 

i own a tc and i had a trd exhaust before. it's not only the exhaust you'll need to switch out, it's the whole exhaust system, including header, midpipe, and the axelback.

all the pipes provide air flow restriction. even if you replace the exhaust to trd exhaust, your performance will still be restricted by other sections of the exhaust system.

 

My ebay header free'd up a good amount of power(As did my cold air intake), and was only around $120.00 shipped.

I have a whole thread on it, and recommend it over an axle back any day.

 

Depending on pipe diameter, changing the whole exhaust system from the engine back may have an undesirable effect ie noise level. Especially on the freeway, the constant drone might be a bit annoying to some. As for the intake I'd get a cheap cai like roller did and change out the filter to a better one. The stock intake looks to have too many bends in it and the inside of the piping doesn't look to smooth. Although I will admit I haven't grabbed one like roller yet to really see 1st hand. Too many other things take priority.
