Default Valve cover question..

Hey everybody, I'm about to buy a valve cover off of a fellow member but I need to clarify something before I send the money...

The valve cover is off of a tC, which shares the same motor as my xB2, which brings me to my question...

Will the tC valve cover work with my xB2? Is it a direct replacement?

To my knowledge, yes.

IIRC the answer is no. Something about the coil pack height? Not 100% sure.

Yes, it fits.

Will the TC valve cover fit on a xb2?

Thanks! I never understood why it wouldn't but I remember someone posting that they tried swapping them but they weren't compatible and I believed them. I do still wonder if it might be a model year thing? Toyota changed a few things in 07 like the MAS and possibly the coil packs? Not sure.

Edit:

Hmmm... this gets interesting. According to ToyoDIY there are 3 different part numbers for TC/XB 2AZ-FE valve covers:

11201-28014: 05/04-10/05 TC
11201-28031: 10/05+ TC
11201-0H060: 07+ XB

I have no idea what the differences are but I'd be sure to confirm this with a dealer parts schematic before ordering a TC valve cover for my XB.

LOL!!! I get it now! You guys are talking about the decorative plastic cover that sits on the valve cover for appearance and to reduce engine noise. I'm thinking of the actual aluminum valve cover that covers the cams. So yes, the decorative plastic covers are interchangeable but the actual "valve covers" are not.

Yeah...I'm NOT talking about the plastic cover on top of the motor...I'm talking about the actual metal valve cover...I'm looking to buy one, and powdercoat, so I won't have to take my stock one off and be unable to drive my car...

Again, I'm looking to see if the METAL valve cover is the same...

Plastic piece that covers motor = Engine Cover

Metal piece that covers valves and requires a gasket to seal = Valve Cover

I need the info on the valve cover...I'm trying to decipher all the info that's been given so far, but it seems that half the people responding are talking about the plastic cover, the other half is talking about the metal cover...

So what I take from everything, is that the metal valve cover shares different part numbers between the tC and the xB2, if that is so, then they wouldn't be a direct fit correct?

Again, I'm looking to buy a tC valve cover so I can get it powdercoated. If I buy one and it doesn't fit on my motor than it doesn't do me any good...So does anybody have a concrete and simple answer to the question?

Do you know anyone with a 1gen tC? It's pretty simple to remove and test fit, I'd guess 20 minutes start to finish.

I haven't personally tried to fit a TC valve cover on my XB engine but I remember reading a post from someone who did and he said it didn't fit. Also the part numbers are different so it's very likely that they are not interchangeable.

We're in the same boat since I too would like to have a spare cover to polish or powder coat. Let me know if you find one. When yours is done, I'll buy your spare or vice versa.
