Hello All,

I recently swapped a new engine in my car Scion xB 2008 2.4,it was running fine on the donor car. I installed it (swapped Intake) and started the car,
and now I have water in the cylinder head (where spark plugs are), I'm thinking bad Intake or I connected a hose in the wrong place.

Does anyone have a diagram on where the hoses go in reference to the intake?

Thinking of swapping out the intake tomorrow for the original one.

There are only a few water connections to the engine, the radiator hose, which you can't have gotten wrong, the heater core hoses, decently large so again hard to get wrong, and the water by-pass hoses on the throttle body. Those are the only ones you might have gotten wrong. I've attached a PDF of the throttle body hook ups so you can double check. The usual reason for water in the cylinder head is due to s blown head gasket. If you took the head off the new engine and didn't clean and replace the head gasket then that could be the problem.

 

Thanks for the reply...the engine was fine in the donor car so i'm thinking it's something wrong with the intake..i didn't use the one my car had...i will swap it out today and test.

 

Update - issue caused by a cracked intake, replaced it and all is good.
