Default 08 xB LED Swap

Does anyone have any more information, such as a DIY, on how to change the 08 xB gauge LEDs? I have read several posts and I have checked in the tech section, but not too much really comes up.
The primary issue that I have is the power output for different colors. I read that if you try to change colors to something like blue, the LED will prolly end up pretty faint. This is due to the amber paint on the stock gauges? Can someone take a pic of this to explain it better for me?

Thanks

here is a link to the 'how too' & a few pics of what blue looks like.

Some have pictures with the stock gauge face in them, some dont, & some have custom gauge faces in them..

There's one more in here i cant find it now, but the guy did white in the needles areas & blue in the LCD screens & a custom gauge face w/out the stock beneath it..
There are many many different ways to go...
good luck with your gauges what ever you decide to do... IMHO Blue looks great!!!

Thank you very much for that. Sorry it took so long to get back on here and respond...

Anyways, this doesn't really go over the whole "orange paint" thing. Someone said that the blue will end up looking greenish because of the paint. But someone else said there is a way around thing. I want to know what this orange paint is and how to get around it because I really don't want the blue to look green.

Any ideas?

There is no way to put a new overlay in there? I don't want to buy new ones... especially for $150. Then do the LED swap as well. That would suck.

if you place an overlay on top of the existing gaugefaces... which are still orange....

it won't do anything, lighting wise.

Here's something to think about.. I got a custom gauge face & put in on over the top of the existing stock face.. looks great in the day.. But at night wasnt letting enough blue thru.., So I took out the stock & then it became TOO BRIGHT at night,- kind of like this one here in this thread...
I decided to do the unthinkable.. with a razor blade... I, with the skilled hands of a surgeon, I "scraped" away the orange ink that were the 'letters.E-F, C-H, & the numerals 0-7, & all the 'hash marks' till I got down to clear plastic on the stock guage.. held it up tp the light & it looked pretty bad.... I cursed.. then I stuck it on the gauges UNDER my custom gauge face & wallla.!! Well You be the judge...
All comments are welcomed!!!

The guages look very blurry. I think I'd get queezy looking at those while driving.
