Mounted mine inside under the third brake light. Looks out the back window. A little dark at knight but you can still see ok.

Really? Night.

Above the license plate is where I usually put them. I have put them below the 3rd brake at customer request but usually don't because of the tint and its hard to see at night.

Sorry. I was typing late on the iPad and autocorrect struck again. I did however dream of backing through a LARP tournament at the park last night.

I just ended up getting a license plate frame camera. Haven't installed it but hopefully it would be simple

License plate is easy, just pop off the interior panel run the cables up through the hatch. Just make sure if you dont run it through the factory rubber loom to make sure you have a good seal so you dont have moisture damage.

I know this is an old thread, but thought I'd weigh in.

It's a CMOS camera, CCD wouldn't work with the stock nav unit. I've had it about 4 months with no problems.

And it takes the place of one of the license plate lights? I just looked at it on Ebay and it says 07-12 XB, so will it not work with my 2005? I was going to get the wireless version.

Yeah it replaces one of the plate lights with an LED. It should work with all XB2's. It's a little loose so I ran a bed of caulk around it before I put it in.

I also bought this camera and installed into one of the license light hole, but I can find any (12v) hot wire to power the camera? Anyone can help?
