Is this a common A/C issue?
2015 was also doing it, but not as bad and they replaced the compressor which fixed the issue.
2008 still does it.
What it is is that if you don't drive it for a day or so, when you go to drive it with the A/C on, it will not cool the air at all for 2-4 miles of driving. It will eventually begin to cool the air and when it does it is like a switch, like it wasn't on, and then it all of a sudden is on and you know instantly that the heat is being pulled from the air. When working it is fantastic. Stop the car and drive it again a few hours later, no problem. Drive it the next day or two days later, problem is back until you drive it for 2-4 miles. Could there be a part that gets stuck in the compressor that eventually succumbs to the pressure of being pushed hard by driving and higher engine RPM's? Is this a common issue since I've seen it in both the 2008 and 2015?

It took a while for our '14 corolla to start pumping out cold air yesterday after sitting for an hour outside.
Of course it was 116F outside... has been for quite a while now. https://www.abc15.com/weather
Window films and those folding windshield screens help, a little. Putting in the garage better, but not always available.
I don't know about the connector, but there should be a small wire or 2 going into the compressor somewhere.

Here's a rabbit hole you can go down relating to the AC compressors that Toyota makes

They have been making swash plate pumps since '95 & '97 so if the control system sticks, it can display all the symptoms described above.
Another part of the warren

As to why they stick?? no idea. Son has an 06xb with 150Kmiles, no issues. We have an 09 with 75K, no issues
Both are in Phoenix, so lots of use.
Perhaps lack of use in a cooler climate can cause issues???

When it's 115F+ outside and the car has been outside soaking up all that heat, it will take a while to even start to cool things down.
This was the hottest summer yet in PHX... getting close to Saudi Arabia temps... or is it higher??
Check temps in Riyadh, Doha or Mecca
