Question dome light LED wiring problem

Hi, I was wondering if any of you could provide me with some guidance as far as the LED mods you did to your scion and the dome light ECU.. has anyone actually shorted out this module?

I have a 2012 xB.. I was wiring everything fine, and things worked-- until one point of my install.

I wired into the harness talked about on the left side of the driver's bottom panel, spliced things like normal, fused the line, but when I disconnected a SPDT switch I had hooked up to test things and be able to control my foot well lights, things stopped working.. when I unhooked a wire from a wiring bank, it's likely it touched other contacts that were still hot..

the dome light and the cargo light does not work, and the keyless entry does not respond anymore (no beeps, no locking/unlocking, no flashing, etc), also the avg mpg display info was reset on my instrument panel.. the automatic door locks still work from the buttons on the door, and everything else still works except for the dome lights.

I tested the dome fuse in the engine compartment, it's not popped, with a voltmeter and it shows power, but when I tested the wiring splice and the pins from the white panel (where the harness plugs in), I get nothing

Did I short out the ECU/door lock relay everyone talks about? Has anyone else done this (or know someone that has) and can verify the symptoms? Do you know if the ECU or relay is something I can order myself and replace myself? I tried pulling the ECU fuse from the engine fuse block to hopefully "reset" the computer, and it did not fix anything..

kind of feeling sick to my stomach about the cost everyone is talking about..

Did you check the dome fuse in the panel under the dash? Most likely you just blew that fuse, it's only a 15 amp I think.

Here's a useful link on finding it.

(x-posted reply from clubxb)

thanks for the quick response, and for replying in both places.. lol

I'm at work, and this happened late last night around 1am, so when I get home this evening I can start pulling fuses and checking all of them again..
