Default i pod cable

so i have an extra one now and am wondering if anyone knows what/how to rewire it so that it charges my 4th gen nano...i know they moved the power pin but no idea where to...if anyone has any idea or a place that i could go look that would be great!

I saw a link posted sometime this week to an adaptor that just stucks on the end of the cable...can't find it anymore though

that adapter's the easiest way.

trying to modify the stock ipod cable is a PITA.

You can't just rewire it. Scions charge ipods via firewire, with the touch/iphone/4th gen Apple removed that ability from iPods, you have to use one of those converters to charge it via usb.

I'm not 100% sure how or why, but that's just what I have been able to gather from apple and other places. Recent iPods can only charge via the usb bus.

^^ yea.. charges via USB now.. a 5 volt source..

it was easier to just manufacture cables that charged via firewire, especially in cars, since it didn't require anything extra as it took 12 volts right there.

you can modify and repin the stock cable, but you'll need a voltage regulator to step down the 12 volts to 5, as well as extra voltages to the the data pins to authorize the ipod to charge..

it's alot of extra work.
