I'm currently evaluating the possibility of having some armrests manufactured. I know there was some talk about Zeta coming out with a replacement armrest for the driver's seat and that was a huge let down. I am looking at producing one that would be thicker, softer, and wider, so that the passenger could enjoy the comfort as well. I am 100% serious about this! I need to know how many people would be interested in one before I make the final step of going through with it. If you would be interested in one please let me know. I will have a rough estimate of how much it would cost within the next couple of days.

 

I would buy one for a friend, and maybe myself once I get an xB.

 

I think Zeta is getting serious about making one again. I will which ever one seems better.

It wouldn't affect the rear cup holders at all. It would be a direct bolt on replacement for what is already there. It would just be one single piece that is wider, so that it can be used by both the driver and passenger.

 

Soooo, something that replaces the stock armrest on the seat that is wider so the passenger can use it?

So is this thing going to bridge between the two seats them or something? Or are you going to make a separate one for the passenger?

 

That would seem kind of tough making one also for the passenger since it probably doesn't have the same...um...stuff the driver side has in order to put an armrest (or does it?). Short of getting the Japanese driver's side seat for an armrest for the passenger side, I guess the next best thing is to make the armrest that is already on the driver's side wide enough so even the passenger can use it..........I like that idea =)

 

That's the idea... the trick is making it sturdy enough to support the weight of two people. And beings that America can't leave McDonald's alone, it's going to have to be EXTRA strong!

I have been thinking of getting the center console lid built up taller somehow since i got the box...

 

I like the idea of the arm rest, I would defiantly be interested in upgrading mine. I do have a couple questions though. Usually I don't have passengers in my car so would there be one that is thicker and more comfortable for the driver only and also would it be longer than the current one? My mom had an old conversion van and it had massive arm rests that were the best thing ever, I want something like that in my scion.

Couldn't you install a stock driver's side one on the passenger side and then mate the two together as ONE big armrest? That way, there is support on both sides of it.
I like this idea and am interested. The stock armrest SUCKS.

 

I would be interested. My only request would be that it be large enough to bridge the gap between the 2 seats and be able to fold up.
