The Ultimate DIY light guide (in progress)
aight i changed the orignal topic to something else. Sill shoutouts to Jimmbomb and Whipsaz for helping me get started on this. I am doing a LED over haul on my scion. Dome, map, trunk, plate, lights are all being swapped as is the climate control and PRNDL lights. Im going to upload picture of how to do everything and what lights i used for what soon. Right now im waiting on the lights. I will explain evvvverything. though i do have one question for jim. Howd u get to the climate control system? did u have to take the stero and PRNDL things out before u can get to the AC bulb things??? thats my only question now. So ya bulbs are ordered when i get back from school i will post pics on how to take everything apart! once i get that figured out about the climate things we can get this ish poppin.

to get access to the fuse box under the steering wheel, there is a rubber grommet above the gas pedal. just poke a hole in it, put a straw through it and that'll make it easier to slide the 18g wire through. removing the underdash peices are pretty self expalantory... just pull
to remove the grille, just pop out the 3 plastic clips and unscrew 2 bolts.
since you're going to be running the wires to the fuse box under the dash you dont need the other fuses.
for the grille lights (cathodes/leds), ground the black wires. connect the red wires from both and run one wire from those to one prong on the rocker switch. then run another wire from the other prong on the switch to the fuse box.
do the same for the leds under the dash.
as for which fuse, it all depends of wether you choose one which is Constant or Switchable power. you can use an electricity tester (those that light up) to find which is which
Here, i made a diagram. If anyone spots a mistake please let me know. i'm pretty sure this is correct though:

for the climate controls you do have to remove the radio peice. then pull off the small light gray part under that and remove a screw behind the dash near the steering wheel.
you dont have to remove the dash but pull enough to get access to the screw. then the climate controls will come out (i think there are only 2 screw you'd need to take off)
getting access to the bulbs isnt too difficult but there are clips which are somewhat tricky... i think Jimm's DIY can guide you from there
i just wish i had pics to make it easier

edit. YO it worked!!! my only problem i cant get the hazard wires or ANY of the wires to unclip or whatever! im thinking imma try pliers or something. Now all i have to do is wait for JIM to tell me how to the led swap on that dome light. He used the wall-mart thing https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=191219
im doing the same thing but idk how to do the dummy bulb or swap the leds...(they look cemented and yes i have the same setup stuff in front of me.)
