Other than JLAudio at $670 bucks for their 12" box & sub, is there any other choices out there? I would rather have a 10" fitted sub if possible. Anyone know of any choices.

 

This is $289.99 + $39.95 shipping. You supply the sub, either 10" or 12". They ONLY reason I haven't bought one is it's not compatible with the cargo cover that came with my RS6.

There are also the Elemental Designs enclosures for a single 12" or two 10" subwoofers, but you give up your spare tire. They are $175 each.

I was originally going to make my own for a single Elemental Designs SQ10 (0.35 cu. ft. sealed enclosure) that would allow me to keep my spare. The, I changed my mind and decided on the building one for a JL Audio 12W3V3 (1.25 cu. ft.) that would require removing the spare.

I FINALLY decide to go with a 12" Stereo Integrity BM MkIII (0.5 cu. ft.) that will let me keep the spare. I pre-orded the sub last week and have the MDF, carpet, etc, out in the garage for building the enclosure. The sub should be here around the end of the month, or early next month. I hope to have the enclosure ready for it when it arrives.

^^ That's sick! I would love to build it myself, but that's like asking a plumber to be a sculptor. I wouldn't know where to start. I would think that doing a floor install like that would require a lot of dynomat to handle it. Is that true? Sure looks good though.

 

No deadener yet. But the client is looking into it.

Plumbers use different tools than sculptors. :D Good thing I have a table saw, router, circular saw, and jig saw. I had to use them all on that build.

 

I assume it's a sealed enclosure. If so, deadening will be less of an issue than if it was an open "infinite baffle" mounting like the door speakers. I'll still probably put some in after I build mine when I get around to installing new speakers and deadening in the doors.

Ugh, makes me think of the 6x9's I see mounted in package trays and stuff like that. That CAN'T sound good. I know properly done infinite baffle installs are amazing, but very few do it right.

If you are shooting for infinite baffle, make sure the subs that you are going to use work in that manner. Not to many subs out there do it.

i ordered the JL stealthbox, i had a $180 crutchfield gift card lieing around so it was only $470 shipped which i happen to win at vegas (yey). ill let u guys know how it looks/sounds when i put the sucker in.

shows that its bolted through the underfender, one nice fat screw that JL supplies, shouldnt go anywhere

and ill be installing this in about a month sadly, cuz i dont have the amp-rack made to go over my spare tire just yet, (wanna hide my amp stuffs)
