Attention all 2010 XB owners.....
Please read with an open mind and lets help each other out!!!
There seems to be a big problem with our base headunit in the XB... Dealers are either selling them with the wrong headunit (model from previous yrs) or the unit itself keeps losing its settings and returning to default after the car has been shut off for a while.....Please if this is happening to you, you should contact Corporate (Scion Exp) directly... the dealer will just brush it off as a faulty unit and replace it with a 50/50 chance you will walk away with the same issue!!! and that unit will just get installed on someone elses car!!!
I been through hell and back with the headunit on my car and I decided to call corporate they told me that they have not heard of this issue until now... Right now my car has been sitting at the dealership since yesterday... I got a call from Corp guy handling my case stating that they set the settings and checked every hr or so but it never reset... I told them that they need to let it sit more than an hr maybe overnight to see that it will reset.... So they are going to do just that he wrote down the current settings and told me they will check again in the morning. I refuse to take this car back until they see that there is a problem with the headunit.... by the looks of it there a few ppl here with that issue... Toyota needs to get word of this issue and know that there is a problem not just random ppl with the same problem. Hopefully if they get enough ppl with the same issue they can do a recall or upgrade the units since there is a known problem....
Here is the # 1-866-707-2466 and speak to the first rep you can they will assign a case person and they will take it from there.... if you want the ext of the person who is handling mine PM me so that he can know that I was not kidding when I said I was not the only one!!! good luck ya!!!

I am very sorry to hear about your issue. This is definitely not the first I've heard of this.
Unfortunately, I can't really help as I got the premium Alpine head unit in my 2010.
I would absolutely encourage anyone else experiencing this issue to report it directly to Scion corporate ASAP.
Please keep us updated. Thanks.

if more people report this same issue, this might need to be stickied so it doesn't fall off of page one. kind of a big deal.
i upgraded to the premium alpine + nav, so hopefully it's not an issue with the power or wiring that attaches the HU to the dash.

Thanks to all who chimed in and I think Onions makes a good point... if you have had an issue with a faulty radio or have gotten the wrong radio ( I have had both happen already!!) please just post it up letting a MOD know that there is an issue and that this should be stickied not only for current members but for all the new ppl who join and may have a issue as well... just my .02!
(I know of three different ppl here who have brought it up but I will not post their names without consent!)

Time for a new h/u lol. No but seriously I hope you guys with this issue get it fixed, thats unacceptable. Also people with the 2010 model make sure you have the newer h/u, there have been reports of dealers selling them with the older version.
could the problem just be that maybe the head unit briefly loses power while sitting overnight, causing the radio settings to reset similar to how it resets when you disconnect the battery and it goes back to base settings?
i mean, this is the first any of us have heard of this issue, so they replaced your radio with a new one, and the problem persists. did they diagnose it at all, or just put a new radio in? because if thats the case, it would have to be something else.
also, as for replacing it with the wrong year, they shouldn't be able to, they should just be putting in it is a 2008 or 9 or 10 xb and if the units are different, they should come up as a different part number.

If the headunit were to loose power as if the battery would be disconnected it would loose everything not just the audio presets.... keeps the saved stations just not the audio presets... I also just got off the phone with my dealer and they are going to replace the headunit as it did reset on them as well....
As for dealers placing the 08/09 units in the 2010 its is possible as they did it to me when I picked up my car... see the dealer here when they showed you the car there was no radio in it but when they placed it in my aux and USB ports would not work.... after looking into (and help from Big Jim) it was the wrong unit as the 2010 has a new base unit versus the 08/09 XB's this is where I am at now got the right radio but it keeps resetting the audio presets on me (others here as well!).... goes to show you dealers are not taking their time to look into what really comes with these cars or even to diagnose the issue they look for a quick fix since its coming out their pockets and not yours.... as long as they have to pay for their mistakes they dont care about truly fixing something.... once it starts to come out your pocket then they milk it and fix it right cause your the one paying... IMHO
I know it may seem odd to those who have not come across this issue but trust me its frustrating as hell when your the one its happening too... so as a Fellow Scion Lifer I created this thread with the sole purpose to let you know that take it to Corporate to really get it fixed...
I know it seems like a lot of
Once again thanks to everyone who chimed in on this!!!

when i was going back and forth to my local dealership to test drive and look at colors and what not, they were selling 2010's as they were trickling in. but the dealership staff did not receive training on the the new models until a few weeks later. i only know this because the one salesman i was dealing with told me about the new audio systems that they were trained on. it's possible that if you bought your car early enough the staff may not have been fully informed on new HU's until after. of course, that doesn't account for individual efforts and staying informed and caring. :-P
^^^ Very valid point and I am sure by now they are not selling them with the older units... but its good for others to be on the look out anyhows... and I hope that by now whatever bugs/kinks were in the Pioneer units have been resolved and when i get my new unit it will be the last of my dilema...lol
Funny you bring this point up, my girlfriend just got her xB and I set the radio as : Theresa's xB............ when she got in to go to work it just scion.I reset it 3x and finally she saw it. Thats cool, next day it reset itself. weird. Funny the preset dont lose their settings. Its got to be internal in the radio,im sure its wired wrong to a capacitor that just times out instead of constant 12vdc. I will call that number on monday or tues.
