Default Bought a 2015 xB yesterday, questions...

Hi Everyone,

I've been a long time 2008 xB owner.

On the 2015, there is a bespoke upgrade for it, what does that include? Is it just GPS or does it do more? Is it stronger sound?

The dealer said something about 10K between oil changes now, is that right for the 2015 xB?

Thanks,

Alan

Welcome and congrats on your purchase.

1) Find bespoke details here: http://www.scion.com/BeSpoke/ . generally, the dealer options are overpriced and you don't get a lot of funtionality for the money (but you do get "dealer support" if something happens). most people find an alternative/after market units that offer greater functionality for much less $ via crutchfield.com or best buy, etc.

2) oil changes:

This is your owners manual: http://a230.g.akamai.net/7/230/83646...ion_xB_WMG.pdf

on page 35, it states that you should change your oil every 5k miles.

Miles or Months?
Scion recommends obtaining scheduled maintenance for your vehicle every 5,000 miles or six months, whichever comes first. For example:

If you drive 5,000 miles in less than six months, you should obtain maintenance at 5,000 miles - don’t wait until six months.

If at six months you have driven less than 5,000 miles, you should obtain maintenance at six months - don’t wait until 5,000 miles.

that being said, did your dealership give you free oil changes for 2 years...? are they still doing that...? when i got my 2013 xb, they threw in 2 years worth of oil changes or a maximum of 5 free changes if i recall correctly.

enjoy your new ride!

Congrats man! I just bought my 2014 about a month ago. Got it for 3k less cause they wanted to get rid of their 2014 stock but I got stuck with the BeSpoke so really only 2k.....

Anyways, the BeSpoke is growing on me SLOWLY but that's because I just learned how to use it. The nav on it is not amazing but it's not bad. The reason for that is that if you are moving and need to input an address manually, you can't do it. Not even if you have a passenger. The only way to do it is with the voice recognition. Sometimes it's spot on and sometimes it's not. The nav is nice on it. Gives you warning ahead of time instead of it being like 3 seconds before it's to late to change lanes.

At first I thought the BeSpoke with AHA was garbage but that's because I didn't know that you needed to download the app and configure it. That being said, if you really want a picture of how it's going to be then download the app and you will get an idea of what is available. They offer something like 100K+ "stations" It's more like internet radio/podcasts and you can switch the song as much as you'd like if you don't like what's playing. You can also thumbs up or thumbs down songs and it will learn what you like to listen to. I'm not sure if all the radios on the xB include HD radio with or without BeSpoke Premium. When you do play a station you can definitely tell the difference right away. It will always start out non-HD then after 1-2 seconds it will switch to HD and you can hear it instantly.

You can update your Facebook,Twitter and even use Yelp.

Is it worth the 1k+? That depends if you want to spend the money and go through the dealer installing it. They will warranty the work so you always have that peace of mind but it is way overpriced. I got additional work done through the dealer but I knew I was paying more but the warranty is what really mattered to me. It matters to some but some could careless.

As for the oil change. I asked the inside crew and also the mechanics there. You will go in every 5k for like a routine maintenance check up (100 point inspection, fluid top off, check your tires etc etc..) but at 10k they will change your oil. I asked them why because on my old Accord it was every 3-5k I needed a change. They told me that all their cars as of 2012+ (Toyota, Lexus,Scion) all come with synthetic oil. So that's why it's every 10k. The mechanic told me this, the inside crew just gave me the brochure to read (figures -__- ).

I will attach some pictures of the AHA so it can give you an idea of what it would look like.

This is my first Scion and I'm so glad I chose the xB! Totally jealous of that backup camera that comes standard on the 2015's! The dealer wants to charge me 3k for it (yeah you read that right) 3k!!!!!!!!

3k, arghhh! I wonder if your head unit has the plug in for it and you could just do it yourself somehow.

I hope you enjoy your xB like we have loved ours. It is the only car I've ever had that I love even years later.

I don't see myself in anything else after my first test drive. It was love at first drive!

Oh man I can't believe I forgot to tell you. Well you probably already have your insurance settled with since you just got you car but I will let you know anyhow.

I was shopping for full coverage because it's mandatory. I was going to pick Allstate but then Geico hit me up and I was like UGH I don't want to talk to them because I mean how can you compare tv commercials? "Allstate...you're in good hands" But oh man was I wrong.

You know how the dealer wants to charge $1500 for like 7yr 100k extended warranty. If you get Geico and choose to add their MBI (mechanical breakdown insurance) it covers (7yr 100k) everything that the dealer option covers and more! They told me all I would have to worry about would be the basic wear and tear or like you know spark plugs, tires, the stuff that happens over time. But anything else is covered by them. The lady on the phone was super cool. She was like and I quote "alright alright you're from Cali and I know you Cali people be smoking and you don't gotta tell me what!! But say if you smoking and you drop the cherry (no lie she said that!) and it happens to burn the seat....your covered. If you got mcdonalds coffee and it falls all over your sound system and it frys.....you covered. And if for whatever reason, you get into a knife fight and they slash up your car seats...you covered!) So not word for word but the conversation went 99% like that.

And it's only offered to new cars or cars that have less than 15k miles.

So if you are still in the air about insurance then hit up Geico! Once they told me about that I cancelled that extended warranty from Toyota ASAP and boy were they ____ed.... LOL

So yeah just a heads up!
