Burning oil, a lot
I didnt see this posted anywhere on here. I wanted to share my experience and pass on the info I have to date.
My xB has 75k on it and it uses a lot of oil. 2-3q every 1000 miles or so. I pretty much felt as if I was screwed and began shopping for a new car. Discussed the issue with a buddy who mentioned that Scion has a service bulletin in regards to this issue. I contacted the dealer. Monday I had to bring it in for and oil change. At that time they sealed the fill and dipstick so that it cant be tampered with. Later this week or when the check engine light comes on I have to take it back to the dealer. At that time (if they observe the oil use) they will rebuild the motor with new rings as well as repair any damage to the motor caused by the oil usage.
Has anyone gone through this yet? Are you pleased with the results? Ill keep posting as the service progresses.

Doesn't hurt to try. Sure would beat paying for another car. Toyota has a similar deal with Camrys and Rav4s with the same motor. Not sure how soon Scion can get the parts in, I have heard from a couple people it was 6 months before they got their appointment. Once they dropped of the car it was a day or two to repair.

I've gone through the process with my xB. After my car failed the oil consumption test I've been told that I'll be contacted and they called me less then 1 week. I left my car for 3 days. I've been suggested to drive it in different rpm ranges for the first 1000 miles.
