can't stop blue corrosion on battery terminal
About 3 months ago I notice a lot of blue powdery corrosion on my positive battery terminal on my 09 xb. I took it apart , brushed it clean and washed it all down with baking soda water an cleaned off then put a felt wrap around thing on the terminal and now checking it again it is totally covered with blue again. Anyone ever have this problem and it keeps coming back?
Have you tried using baking soda and water? Usually cleans that stuff up quite nicely. You MAY have a battery terminal post that is seeping acid. Once this happens, nothing will fully stop the corrosion. There is a product at all NAPA stores that cleans and protects battery terminals. Its in a spray can usually on the bottom shelf next to the store's battery section.
I took everything apart and found that the post was not pressed into the battery all the way and that there was a small crack in the top of the battery. I sealed around it all and it still looks corrosion free after a few weeks.
