Damn deer!
That actually not bad for a deer hit. Last one I hit took out the hood, passenger headlight, bumper cover and foam core. New hood and you should be god to go. Just check to make sure to top of the radiator core support is straight.
Ouch....dang! Glad everyone is okay! When I lived in central Alaska, I was heading up the highway one winter on a nice day doing around 70 when a huge moose ran across the road right in front of me....barely missed him. (The company car was a Ford Explorer...total POS) Moose don't normally run like that so I'm guessing wolves were chasing him.
Keep us posted on the damage and repair.

Thanks
The repairs were done fast and efficiently at a local collision shop; many parts in addition to the hood were needed. I was very pleased with the thoroughness of the agent at the shop; he found every little detail.
I was actually a bit pleased at requiring a new hood, as the very first (and last) time I put my car through the car wash, it left a huge scratch on the hood. I had buffed out as much as possible, but it still ____ed me off every time I washed the car or when he light would hit the scratch just so.
If I had the foresight I would have had the repair shop mount the license plate higher to be centered on the bumper, rather than the offset manner which, for some unknown reason, it was mounted before. This is something I will correct, someday.
Yeah, moose are big! I have met a few in a previous life. Now I live a bit farther south, and the black-tail deer here are not so large. Living here, hitting a deer is just a right of passage; you're not officially a resident until it happens. This was my third, but the first of its impact.
I'll be hoping to avoid them in the future, but I'm still aiming for the raccoons.
Stay safe

Great thread. Sorry you and the deer had to meet under such unfortunate circumstances. I was thinking like Greg S that all you needed was a hood. Glad you got a good shop to fix all the damage. Wow, that deer came out of nowhere.
