I know this is like 5 months old but I'm with DUnit among other people here.

You guys are idiots and I thank god that I live no where near you guys.

I'm not saying I didn't do stupid crap when I was 16, 17, 18, but I grew out of that quick. I've known five people to die in car accidents that weren't that fast and another who went into a comma for 4 months and has brain damage. A couple weren't even driving excessively fast and were hit by tools that were trying to avoid debris. A couple were some really really good drivers and ____ happens.

Nothing wrong with going over 10 or 15, but trying to rationalize well over triple digits is moronic.

i say, if the car can do it, why not. as long as no ones around its only your life in danger and if you want to put it in danger go ahead. not all of us have hundreds of $$ to go to a track so where else is there?

I went 125 last night...xb handles fine! just dont yank the wheel and ull be fine. some people like me like to test the limits on everything. so dont hate just bc ur to scared to break a law. laws r meant to be broken. u dont have to break them at all but there is no need to bash other scion drivers bc they like to drive fast...and im sure u live near plenty of people who like to drive faster than u. end rant!

now back on topic...has anyone hit 127 yet?

I see two problems with that.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Is the car physically capable of going 125, sure. But that doesn't make it a good idea.

It's awful selfish to put your life at risk. I've been to a couple funerals, one where the parents had to fly from Japan to get their son back. Its possibly the single saddest thing I've witnessed in my life.

If you can't afford it, don't half ___ it.

But I'm not you, can't control you. Just don't do it anywhere near me and that's fine.

This is my last post in here and then I'll wash my hands of it.

I don't hate because you break the law. I hate because you're being reckless and selfish. Like I've said before I've probably done everything you guys have done if not worse. When I was 16 I got had a CRX with a ls vtec turbo (b18b with b16a head with a custom turbo). It was gutted to bear bones and I assure you it could fly. My friend had b18c5 swap into his teg with more his share of mods. I've hit well over 140 in both and had fun doing it. I've since then learned how dangerous it is and learned better ways to have fun.

Your basic thoughts that some how you're above everyone else and can pick and choose which laws apply to you and which laws are reasonable just shows me your immaturity.

I sure hope you grow out of it, because I've seen 5 to many funerals for people under 25.

im not above everyone else... driving 70 in the left lane on the freeway is breaking the law...i didnt know speeding was immature. i guess ill have to go home and write that down in my code of conducts book. DONT DRIVE FAST ON AN EMPTY ROAD CAUSE ULL BE CALLED IMMATURE! I respect the laws just like anyone else from BMWs to us xbs. do i follow them all the time? no. But i do respect other drivers on the road. and yes i am young. when im old ill probably be ranting on some car forum telling kids there is no need to go 100+. well tough luck cause kids will be kids.

i feel that it is only stupidity that you do NOT speed to your vehicle's maximum speed at least one point or another.

as the owner of the vehicle, your are expected to know the extremes and limitations of your vehicle. if you don't, then you will be one of the many robots on the roads who crash during an event that calls for quick reflexes during high speeds. if you do not know the limitations of your vehicle and you react TOO much, you slide out of control.

two weeks after i bought my gen1, i took it out to a parting lot owned by a huge casino and it never gets used... in fact, it's so unused, that there are spray painted track lines from others having fun.

i went there and tested the turning extremes of the gen1 and had it screaming across the pavement for nearly 20 seconds at a time. at one point i had it on two wheels due to the weight of an extra passenger which was easily felt, seen and corrected.

i've also taken my gen1 upto the 120 mark during long cruises and normally do roughly 105-ish and it rides just fine.

i will agree to the tire fact... a blow out at those speeds can be deadly. a keen eye and a good driver's skillful judgment will tell you when or when not to go to those extremes.

in any case, speeding is against the law... and is somewhat stupid that people STILL sit there saying "gee officer, i didn't realize i was speeding" when you were doing 80-ish in a 60 and was passing people like they were stopped...

your fun times should be kept to roads that you know every square inch about and that are not heavily traveled roads.

i'm an honorary Rally xB, my fun is on the dirt and snow roads

speed limit is 70 on the large interstate and state highways here. i enjoy good gas mileage. the xB (gen 1 or 2) isnt ment to be a speed racer in my opinion. i personally had to peel a guy off a tree and watch him die in an ambulance. he did deserve it because he was drunk driving at least 60 in a 35. but i had a blow out at 55 and no it wasnt cool at all.

yeah i was young once but i was also smart too and what you do in your past AND get caught will affect your future.

thats why job applications ask if you had any speeding tickets or DWI's or anything like that.

most i gone on the interstate wsa probably 90 because i was getting run over by an 18 wheeler and caught in between a fleet of minivans and SUV's and i was in the right lane!

stupid NC.

I have messed with Xb's on highways while on long road trips.... They keep up and handle just as well as my tC, and I rarely drive the speed limit on road trips.... RARELY.

... yea, heh. only once cause it sounded like my tires were gonna fall off.

i agree with doing this on roads you know. it only makes sense (for someone that feels its necessary to do this). that way you know what to expect as far as road conditions and makes it "safer" so to speak.

So many idiots here, no wonder why xB's are one of the top 10 ticketed cars. It's because of immature drivers out there.

Like the first guy said, its a nice handling vehicle right off the show room floor. The shift points, power band, etc, etc, etc.

According to my gps Ive been to 83mph as my fastest speed the past 3 years. I watch the limit if bymyself, I keep with the pack if in traffic.

Just a word to the wise, handling is one thing, but stopping is completely different. I took my old mercedes 240d up to 85 according to the speed o as it feels better the faster you drive it.

The engine noise was drown out by the road and wind noise. The car felt like a hand was pushing down on it. I was on a 3 miles stretch of clear road in the country one afternoon. As I maxed out the speed o I started to slow down, I got down to 45mph in no time, I needed to stop to make a turn and the brakes just quit working, I then panic and remembered I can up shift and engine brake. I was down to 20mph at the stop sign and had to roll through it as I ran out of brakes or they faded out on me.

Not sure about the other states, but I believe in va if you go 15 or more over the limit you get arrested and car impounded.

Well i got a lil something for d unit...i don't know if you ever heard of the autobahn, but on the unlimited stretches of road they travel on average 110-115 and it has been noted they have less accidents even though they travel at a higher speed! And for the other people who ridicule fellow scionist for driving fast obviously completely misunderstand the scion brand! I'm not saying the condone speeding, but customizing they do...and people don't drop thousands of dollars to go slow! and if they do get ticketed or lose there license, who cares, it's not you! Lastly i look at my speeding tickets (2) to be part of the economic stimulus package! without myself and other drivers who occasionally surpass the speed limit cops would be out of a job, they have families to feed! I couldn't sleep at night knowing i caused a family to starve...can you. Oh and i also feel xb's are unjustly targeted for the way they look, you can't miss them coming down the highway! both of my tickets were targeted due to the fact other cars around me were traveling at the same speed!!!
