Epidemic Water Pump Problem!
UPDATE: Well, the dealerships (I assume all) are aware of this issue. When I brought it in, the guy was confused and said they had to look at it, but then I alerted him that it is widespread.
In essence, the dealership is taking care of it for me for free under the extended Toyota Warranty that I purchased. They also are giving me the rental car for free.
Off-topic, but those Corollas ride so quiet! I also forgot what it's like to be on stock springs, because this car hardly feels any bumps at all. Plus, the shocks are amazing compared to the ones on the xB. I was really surprised with this car, but the limitations it has when compared to the xB are immediately clear, such as the interface, the audio, the stability, etc.

So here's a fun update. When I went to pick up my box today, I drove it off the lot and started to lightly accelerate. Well, the transmission slipped and the car revved into 6,000 rpm's out of nowhere. Plus, my a/c was totally blowing hot air. I was so mad about that, so I'm still waiting for my box...
changing my oil when i noticed the pink strip of anti freeze on the hood liner.I was hoping i dodged a bullet and that pesky problem skipped me, I was wrong.so I called the dealer that i bought it from Sierra Toyota.Talked with one of the service managers, he instructed me to call Toyota office down here in So.cal.they told me that they would take care of the leaky water pump as a good will gesture even though i was over the 5 year/60 thousand mile warranty by 17500 miles.. went back over to sierra Toyota, and they on the same day got my car in and water pump replaced free to me otherwise would have cost me 509.45 dollars..
Just got my water pump changed on my Xb2, the service writer tried to act like he had never heard of the problem, he asked me to show him the strip of coolant under the hood, when i popped the hood a mechanic was walking back from the soda machine saw the strip of pink and said " that needs a water pump, you can tell because of the pink on the liner" dropped it off Friday evening at 6, it was ready to go Saturday at 11am

10k miles after my original was replaced and I'm pretty sure my replacement is now leaking.
Last night I popped the hood and noticed a very very faint line where the "pink line" will show when the water pump is leaking. I wiped it off and this morning when I got to work I opened the hood, sure enough there is a line again.

I just had mine replaced earlier this month, but I've been scanning my hood on the lookout. Sucks. Sorry you'll have to go through that crap again. I'm at 48,000 miles on my 2008.

I remember reading somewhere that for tCs, the water pumps didn't come with o-rings and they just used silicone gasket maker type stuff (basically, like FIPG for oil pans). Maybe these water pumps need to be "resealed" every now and then, or if anything, why not just design an o-ring for it? lol. I don't know, just throwing an idea out there. Although this might be an "epidemic", I don't think it is as bad as it seems....I'll wait until the problem arises before I make more opinions about this.
anyone had any luck getting their's done after the warranty is out? My pink line just showed up, I guess I was lucky. Mine made it to 68k before any leaks. I do alot of work on my own cars I just haven't really looked at the pump to see how easy/hard it would be. Anyone out there that has done one themselves? any tips or tricks? looks like the mount might make it a little tight in there by the pump.
