Epidemic Water Pump Problem!

Well everyone I finally took it to the dealer this evening. I let the service advisor know about the leaking water pump, they took in to the back and confirmed it needs to be replaced. I won't get it back until Tuesday since they have to order the part.
I was really happy with the non-bs I got when I got there (Toyota of Irving). I also got a rental for the weekend through Tuesday so I can't complain.
I was really expecting to leave with a headache and it was the complete opposite. The Service advisor, the parts rep (bought a replacement air filter and they are installing it for me), and the cashier were all very nice.

I have been in that situation before with my dad's car (Toyota Prius). But my dealer waived the cost of wasting the technicians time and also did service beyond what was expected. Maybe my dealer is just better then most, who knows. Its clean, professional and the work is always perfect. I trust them more then any other shop with my car, that is for sure. And for parts, they usually will price match so that is good...
I am with you on the creaking issue. Mine is pretty bad, but only if radio is off do I hear it. I think of it as the car's personality... Its an econobox, not a Lexus. I spend less then 20k on it, I won't expect perfection. If it does not jeopardize my safety or is a serious problem, it's best left alone, usually. Not to mention, the people who did have the TSB done usually still have creaking, so why bother

Anybody smell coolant but not losing any? My 09 has smelled like coolant when hot since it was new, but the level has never dropped. Sometimes the smell is quite strong. Other people have even mentioned they smelled it. We have 10k on it now and never a problem other than this.

it's not so much the water pumps issue,, in mine and many other technician,, its the coolant.. until we switched to the dexcool style crappy pink coolant, we never had this issue... Tons of radiator leaks, rad hose leaks around the conection, and water pump leaks...
i truley believe the coolant is crap.... I stick with the old red coolant in all my cars,, even my mustang has toyota red in it,,,,

so mine has a line on it, but Im not sure if its just road salt or if the pump is leaking. The line is pretty apparent though. its going from the front of the hood to the back of the hood, not from side to side. is that how it should be if Im getting the problem? Mine is a 2009 xB, is it a problem on the 09s?
edit: my coolant is low too. Im gonna bring it in to the dealer to check it out.

I did a visual inspected of my 2009 xB today and saw the pink residue and did some searching on another forums and came to learn that it might be the water pump. So I took my '09 xB to the dealer and in fact the water pump is leaking. They replace it right away.
The Repair Invoice shown:
-16100-0H050 PUMP ASSY, WATER
-161011 LEAK AT ENG. C, POROUS WATER PUMP CASTING. R, REPLACE WATER PUMP ASSY.
My '09 xB is only at ~11,8xx miles. I also make an appointment for tomorrow for them to look at the A-pillar creek TSB that suppose to be only on the 2008 xB; on my '09 xB it only occur during cold weather; I hate to listen to that dam noise.
I also just found out about this TSB
http://www.aboutautomobile.com/TSB/2...Steering+Wheel
which I've notice it my '09 xB as well. Did any of you have the Steering Wheel TSB done yet? How is the outcome?
Thanks.

This forum has been so helpful throughout the ownership of my 08 xB, and a lot of these people deserve a huge round of applause for all the help and guidance they give.
My 08 xB had 17,700 miles on the odometer when I got the dreaded pink line on the underside of the hood 2 weeks ago, and took it to the dealership on the basis of this thread. Confirmed it was the water pump leaking. Took 3-4 days to have the water pump delivered, but had the car in my possession for that time. Dropped it off overnight to have it serviced first thing in the morning; ended up taking 4 hours (good thing it was warranty work). I've always been impressed by my dealership (Stafford Toyota/Scion), and they were very courteous and understanding (and seemed like they knew about the problem already).
I'm kind of worried about longevity if the water pump only lasts 17k miles. How many times am I going to have to replace it?
