Hi: Firstly, thanks for any assistance. Here’s my story:
2009 Scion xb. The husband changed the fuel pump. It still doesn’t pump. That’s where they got me involved. I hooked a jumper box the the power in the pump and I can hear it run. Like this, it sputters, but doesn’t start. This is normal for this car, the husband tells me. The Wife has a way with it to make it run. But, still no power from the pump wire harness. I trace the green hot wire back to a box under the dash, by the driver’s left knee. Then, to a spot where it looks like a fuse should be, on the bottom. Picture attached.
The bottom of the box under the dash.
The third spot from the top left is where the fuel pump wire goes. There is no fuse here. I put a fuse in, and the pump runs while cranking. It sputters. That’s good he says. She can make it start, except the battery is dead.
Could that be it? A fuse is missing? They say they drove it where it’s sitting, now, for three weeks. Could this fuse location be a bypass to something else?
BTW, there is an airbag light which they claim has been on for a while. When I get my head under the dash and turn-in the key, I can hear a couple of relays activate, and a half second later, one de-energizes. Without a fuse in this spot, the pump will not run. I see references to a C/OPN relay. I can’t find it. The pink one in this picture does activate when I turn-on the key. The one that is momentary seems to be on the top or someplace I can’t see. Is that the way it suppose to work?
thanks!
HarryHydro
