gas mileage????

If my driving was a little less stop and go, I suspect my MPG would increase some, but I'm not complaining. I haven't tried 0W20 (currently 5W-20), but since my primary concern is engine life, I anticipate next buying 5W-30. If I lose an MPG, I'll consider that a minor fee for the better engine protection ! I keep cars "'til their wheels fall off" and so preservation is more important to me than max MPG.
I know that the 0w-20 is not as thick as the 5w-30.

No expert here, but as I understand, the first number is related to cold engine oil viscosity and 0W is probably fine outside of frigid environmental conditions. (I use a heavier weight, but I also run MMO and that should help with cold starts.) However, when the engine is at running temp, the second weight number comes to play, and lower is more likely to result in lubricant loss and cylinder/ring wear. (I prefer greater protection to help preserve engine life.) Not sure there's a hard and fast rule as to the best choice, but that's my current preference !
