help! downloading custom LKA into premium audio system
So I was up until 2am last night playing with the Scion OEL Screensaver software making all kinds of cool background pics and videos for the Pioneer premium audio in my new xB2. The instructions say to burn the LKA file to a CD-R and insert into the cd player. I do that, but nothing seems to happen when I put the CD-R into the cd player, the display just says "NO MUSIC". Any help here? Thanks.

To the OP:
I couldn't figure it out either until I read the manual and followed it pretty much step by step. You have to turn the radio off, then insert the disk with the LKA file on it. I know, it's weird. Then you have to do some funky "Hold Button A and Press Button B" ritual and then it'll read the disc (now that I think about it, you might have to insert the disc when it is powered on, then turn it off, then do the button holding and mashing.)
Also, another tip, to change the color, car type, the intro message, iPod control settings, etc, turn the head unit off, then hold in the MENU button. Again, that's in the manual as well, but it took me a while before I broke down and looked it up.

ok heres what you do.
with the car turned on turn your radio off
with the h/u off press and hold the 'menu' and 'multi selector' button (your volume ***)
hold these two buttons till the screen say ' download insert disc'
then with the cd-r you made insert and wait for it to download.
if you put it in the right format on the cd-r it should work
then turn on your radio and enjoy!!

I think the issue some folks are having is that apparently Vista can't run the software used to created the CD's to load backgraounds, etc in the head unit.
In my 15 years in IT I haven't seen an OS that would affect the format of an application. If you can run the app and it has even a proprietary file format the OS doesn't really care it just might not know how to read a file created by the app unless you give it the association but it should still allow you to burn a CD, for example in this case.

If it's when it's first put in, check that you are burning a '.lka' file onto a cd and not the '.lkd' file. I would also recommend using the latest version of the OEL Screensaver Studio software, I've had an .lka not load once (post-progress meter) when I used the version 1.0.0.

Well I think that this black and white software is scion specific or for any other black and white OEL display.
In my previous car i had a premier h/u that was full color and actually played 12-15 sec movie clips. (smokin deal for $287.00 shipped on ebay! )
That h/u however used a similar but different software offered by pioneer.
One of the reasons a got the upgraded radio for my scion is because in the brochure and such the h/u looked color. Picking up my car and seeing my radio only black and white was dissapointing. but ill live!!
