Got Gas today 10.3 gallons after a month of driving 415 miles and on the way back from the gas station 20 miles and a bit of tail wind got 51.8mpg in about 40 degree temps with the grill blocked making so much heat inside I had to roll the windows down. Driving around into the wind to the gas station and a couple of stops on the way I only got 46mpg. Average since new is 40.45mpg.

I have been running around 25-26 since I have been doing alot of shot trips and stuff due to work. But in summer I was getting 28 or so average, and this summer I plan for even better, so we shall see.

I have about 7K on the XB now and I only average about 325 to a tank so roughly 26.8 miles to the gaillon. I was hoping for more.

I don't do much stop and go. I don't go over 70 usually I cruise at 65-68 and I use the cruise control as much as humanly possible. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Maybe someone can give me some CLUES.

PS car is TOTALLY stock no mods and I dont break or excelerate hard.

Start with more tire pressure 35-40psi and a good synthetic oil at the next oil change.

OMFG!!!!!!! I finally got 26.4 mpg based on the the Xb2's avg mpg reading. But after I did some calculations myself I got 25.7 which is not bad considering I always get 22 mpg more like 21 mpg. That actually increased my cruising range by 60 miles which is like a $10 difference every time I fill up. All I tried this time was to drive a lot less aggressively and set cruise control on at 70 mph on the freeway.

Yes its all about how you drive, there are no tricks!!!

there is definitely a sweet spot, i was trying to be SUPER conservative, and i was only averaging like 26 mpg i finally decided what the heck and started shifting a little later and taking of a little faster and my mpg went up the last 1000 miles ive averaged 33 mpg i was like SWEET! before i was shifting to soon around 2250 rpms, so i had to give it more gas now im shifting between 2500 and 3000 depending on how fast i need to take off. Also i drive a very efficient route everyday, its 55 mph and only like 5 stops max in 15 miles.

I have stock wheels and tires and about 4000 miles. I drove from Austin TX to Houston TX and back (about 200 miles one way) I averaged 30.5mpg for the whole trip. It is mostly highway miles at about 72mph on cruise control. Not too many hills and I stayed out of the gas. I would get it up to speed nice and slow. I am so HAPPY! THis car is great on the mpg's. (standard gas) (tires filled to factory suggested.)
