Loud knock when put into reverse after sitting
I have a 2008... The past few months after the car has sat and cooled down, I noticed when put in reverse it makes a few loud, metallic knock sound. If I put it right in drive though, no noise.
If I let the car idle a bit and let the idle drop before doing so, it usually is much less (if at all).
It may have been happening longer, but it just seems so loud now... A big loud CLANK when put into reverse. I have read it is quite common on the xB, Rav 4, etc... I dunno.
I have changed the ATF fluid 4 times or so (every 15K roughly). Currently at 80K miles. Shifts as good as it did new, so I am not sure it is a tranny issue. Motor mount maybe? I have also heard it may even be brake pads shifting and stuff, but I find that very unlikely.
Looking to hear if anybody else has this issue sometimes... Again, normal operation is perfect with no weird noises or anything of the sort. Just that initial knock when put into reverse when cold.
Appreciate any info!
