Oil Consumption
Just to let everyone know that Toyota will fix ur bad pistons as long as you follow process. My 2008 xb was burning a lot of oil. I contacted Capital Toyota went through the process. Not only did they fix my xb, they also gave me a rental car when I took my scion to be serviced. I was charged nothing for the fix or rental which was for a week. A 2015 Corolla. The only thing I paid for was a new set of spark plugs which was recommended by the deal. $58 for a $3000 job. I'm very satisfied. And I was not under a regular warranty. Everything was covered under extended warranty which scion put out to correct the problem. All you to do is call ur nearest Toyota/Scion dealer

Original owner is not a requirement but the term limits are 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever came first. Since all the vehicles included in the extended warranty are well past 10 years old it will not be covered any more.

The last vehicle other than the XB2 to use the problematic 2AZ-FE engine was the 2010 Camry. (or was it 2011?). So, the 2012-2015 Scion XB2's are the last ones covered on that warranty enhancement.

Not exactly. The warranty enhancement for excessive oil consumption covers the 2AZ-FE engines in the XB2 through the last model in 2015. My 2014 is covered on time until about 05/2024. Currently at 69k miles. Of course, you have to fail (pass?) the quart per 1000-1100 miles consumption test.

Yes, glad that they did at some point. Perhaps around 2015? You are right about it originally only applying to earlier models. There are a mind-numbing number of Toyota dealer communications on that issue and engine on the NHTSA website. Also, revisions and parts kit components, etc.
There's a popular pro mechanic that has a You Tube channel (Watch Wes Work). He attempted to purchase the entire warranty kit part no. from Toyota at his own cost. At first, they balked, then they found no reason not to. He did his wife's very high mileage old Toyota RAV4 with the 2AZ-FE engine. He documented a lot of the work. I think that video is a year or two old.
