Seat Belt Rattle
folks..this is a lame post..but want to fix it!!
There was a constant rattle from my passenger side seat when I went over any bumps on the road...When i recently took it for the 5K service, i had asked for the rattle to be inspected thinking it had something to do with the TSB...and they told me that the rattle was from my seat belt buckle hitting against the pillar.
Short of putting the seat belt fastened on the passenger side(without anybody sitting in it..how weird would that look) is there a practical way to stop the buckle from hitting against the passanger side??

YES. i hear mine all the time. also check your rear trunk floor thing that sometimes rattles on mine too. i wanna just change to a 4 point harness or something. but i leave my back seat belts clipped so no rattles
Just this morning I located this same rattle as the pass. seat belt clip hitting B pillar. I twisted the belt around just below the adjuster and fit the metal clip into the same slot the rest of the belt slides through. No more rattle and passenger can lift it out to use it.
Here's another thought. If you have the cargo cover, those little ***** attached to the lifting cords will swing around & hit the sides when you take corners and pull out of a steep drive way.
One fix is to muffle them with some fake fur from a fabric store. You can then tell everyone about the hairy ***** your Scion has.
Sorry. Someone else was bound to say it.

Thanks hypnoticTM..i tried fastening the seat belt still no luck!! will look at the cargo cover..
the funny thing is the rattle comes only when there are small but continuous bumps/imperfections on the road rather than big bump..and the last few days had my sis travelling with me in the passenger seat..and there was no rattles..

Hmmm.. There are a bunch of sensors in the pass. seat with related wiring. You might want to look under there with a strong flashlight & mirror. Be careful as those sensors signal the airbags. If nothing looks loose there it could be your combined weight is moving the suspension away from something it's contacting with one person aboard. You could also try having her sit in the driver seat while you get under the car and shake it slightly. Good Luck.
i have a rattle coming from the back over bumps, and it sounds like it is coming from the latch that the back seat attaches too, the latch on the passenger side. My seat is a bit loose, and makes noise when you shake it. Anyone have a fix for this?
I had a rattle that was coming from the passenger seat as well. It ended up being my iPod cable. It has a cap that goes over the end, but when you're using it that cap hangs there. If you hit a little bump, it rattles against the arm rest thing. I fixed it by sliding the cap down under the seat where I keep my iPod.
