Usually because of the synthetic fabric on the seats. The friction of your getting out of the car creates the static electricity.
For a cheap, quick solution, just sit on a dryer sheet (for you unenlightened ones - Bounce or other brand, comes in a box, put one sheet in dryer with each load of wet clothes as a fabric softener).
Of just touch or hold onto one as you're getting out of the car.
Women notice this more readily because we tend to wear clothes made of synthetic fabrics and usually have longer hair which will stand on end due to attraction to the headliner - less so in xB because of xtra height.
And then, of course, the anti-cling spray works too. Spray your seats.
These are cheap and instantly available everywhere.
