Geez, lights dimmed suggests to me there's a snow induced partial short somewhere -- that would take out other eletricals like the wipers as well.

TSB # S-SB-0050-08 November 12, 2008

This TSB applies to vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown below.

AUTOMATIC TRANS VIN# JTLKE50E*91067111
MANUAL TRANS VIN# JTLKE50E*91067112
I have a auto trans, and the VIN on my car is bigger than 91067111, I think it's 9108xxxx, am I save?

I've had a similar problem, but each time the lights came on I noticed an immediate loss of power. Taking it to the dealer they tell me it misfired and have replaced the B coil pack. I have it replaced 3 times now and the last time they replaced the A and B coil pack. Only 3k left on my warranty, hopefully its fixed...

Weather you are SAFE or not, you are outside the TSB radar for that issue. You should already have the updated harness installed at the factory.

Many have had the coil pack code come up, but the final solution ended up being the wiring harness replacement.

That is one of the codes I got. How many miles are on your car? Contact your dealer like I did. Lets see if we get the same answers. Do not reset the code, they need the light on when they run the codes.

edit:
Looks like you have posted there already but here is the link to my thread.

8tracks, you & I have some same issues.
Here's the history on my car.

2008 xB purchased 02-13-2008 – (VIN earlier than 91067111)
04-30-09 - 16,816 miles; Replaced Engine Wiring Harness per TSB Part#82121-12510
Switched coils 1&3.
06-19-09 – 17,104 miles; Code PO351 Replaced Coil #1 Part# 90919-A2001
09-15-09 - 23,727miles; Code PO351 Replaced Coil#1 Part#90919-A2001
01-06-10 – 25,512 miles; Code CO210 Replaced Right Rear Wiring Harness/Skid Control
and Hub & Brake Assembly. Wire Part#89516-12051 Hub Part# 42450-12090
05-15-11 – 39,644 out of warranty Code PO354 Replaced Coil #? Part#90919-A2001

So mine is 3 coils & counting... to the tune of $307.44 each at dealer now.

Mine are still going bad after the harness replacement.
Thanks for your experiences.
I'll approach the dealer on this first before going to Toyota Corp.

does anyone know what the actual issue with the wiring harness is? Does this issue definately fall under the 3/36k warranty or is it covered longer. Just seems like a pretty big issue for Toyota to just be basically screwing us. Its happened to me since about the 35k mark. at first it would go maybe months before it would repeat. Now basically it does it after engine bay gets hot or if i crank vehicle twice in a short period of time. Any info from a scion or toyota tech would be great.

Is there no techs in this forum that can explain this problem to me. My car is totally out of comission due to a P0301 ign coil code. I am still paying for 3 more years and cant drive my car.

Once my xb gets warm it trips the CEL and traction control and I cant drive it. My warranty is evidently expired and Im no in a position to pay for a wiring harness. I am in school to be a tech but I dont have access to wiring diagrams to show me where to start. If someone could explain whats happening I could possibly replace the defective wire or install the harness myself. Ive read the problem may lye in poor conections it seems this issue could be resolved without replacing the entire harness.

Please help!

If I replace just the coil does anyone know if it will allow me to drive the car for any significant amount of time or will it just start doing it again immediately.? My VIN is 81046324 so its definately prolly defective harness.

Does anyone know where I can get a wiring harness wiring diagram to attempt to fix this issue myself. Like I said earlier at first issue happened months apart now its daily. I dont understand what in the harness could be casing this and get worse as time passed. Is it a short to ground or an open or High resistance in a wire. sorry for bugging yall but im desperate to drive my car.
