Default is some engine vibration normal?

I just bought a stock automatic 08 and now have about 120 miles on it. Love the car. However, I'm noticing an engine vibration in the steering wheel and seat. It's most noticeable on the headrest. If I lean my head back on the headrest it is enough vibration to be annoying, like someone tapping the back of the seat. Happens even when engine is at idle. Is this common on the new XBs? I can also see some vibration of the hood.

Also the suspension seems a little stiff. Is there a mod to soften it a little?

thanks,

I notice some vibration on the steering wheel during stop and go traffic when im stopped but not as bad as your description. I feel some vibration on the headrest but very minimal. I never really noticed my hood vibrating either

When I got my XB it had 5 miles on it. I have never noticed anything close to what your saying. Never had any heavy vibration from the engine, and the suspension is very smooth.

Something isn't right if you feel the vibration in the steering wheel and definetly in the headrest that bad. I have minimal if any vibration in either one of those places. Take it back to the dealer, could possibly have a motor mount issue.

I saw that post about adjusting the hood stoppers but haven't tried it yet. While I was sitting at a stop light I put the car in neutral for the heck of it and the vibration stopped. once back into gear it became noticeable again.

Ah that sounds like what my buddy's wife's celica does.....but it has over 200k on it. I'd think it's a tranny related issue, like something not totally releasing when the car is stopped. Don't know enough about auto transmissions to guess anything specifically. But in that celica it's annoying as hell and stops when you put it in neutral.

I'd take it back to the dealer. If you can, go drive another auto xB (if they have one) just to make sure (although it sounds like yours isn't normal). And if they try and say they don't notice, tell them to drive the other auto on the lot.

I am experiencing the exact same thing. I was going to address it with the service department this week. I'll post what I find.

elo ,
that's the problem I had, it was only noticeable in Drive with foot on the brake at a light.

Give it a try!
