Default TRD redesigns sway bar

I put an order in through TRDsparks and got an email saying they are waiting on new sway bars from TRD and will ship out once they receive them.

I questioned them and they said they are a redesign... Fixed bracket issue or something along those lines.

Anybody have more info on this? I checked scion website and they are off website last two or three days. I wonder if it just a simple fix or they improved the whole bar? Either way it will be interesting to see!

I would guess that would only happen as a warranty replacement if your original sway bar breaks within the warranty period... time to start driving REALLY hard.

When it breaks, call Scion to find out where you should ship it with a copy of your receipt, so that they can ship you a warranty replacement. Don't take it to the dealership in your lowered xB.

How can you tell if its redesigned or not? I had the dealer installed mine two weeks ago when I picked up my new xB!

I installed my TRD sway bar back in February and it's performed just fine! I think you folk are over-reacting something fierce !

I've only seen one person with an xB2 on SL mention their TRD rear sway bar breaking; but if Toyota is redesigning it, that would suggest to me that it has occurred enough times for them to worry about liability issues.

Personally, I'm not worried about it at all. If anybody wants to sell me theirs really cheap, PM me.

Absolutely...I don't expect to have any problems. But if I do, you will be the first I try to sell mine to.

"The brackets are a different shape, a bit heavier, and attach differently. They should be released in the next 4 weeks, give or take." - Ken

From newscionxb.com...

What exactly are the brackets? The way you secure the two points with bushings across?

I assume he is talking about the two brackets that go around the axel and hold the sway bar and bushing... The old ones have two bolts... One on the backside of the axel with the bolt facing toward the rear bumper and one on the nearside with the bolt facing downward... Maybe this isnt the most secure way to hold something that will flex most of the time upwards...

Given any upward flexing pushes up into the beam underside channel (ie. the bracket doesn't take that pressure, the beam does,) I'm not clear why that would be a problem!

Ok that is correct... The down ward flex that would be on the brackets then...
