a trend I don't like

Hope this helps.
Where I work they just leased a fleet of forty Ford Edges and Dodge Nitros which all have fancy body wrap graphics on them. I believe this will be a growing trend with delivery vehicles and fleet cars.
Yup, RS's had exterior and interior goodies.
but yeah, as I stated before, the xB is a great platform for advertisement. Which is why many of us want to mod our boxes in at least SOME capacity to make it stand out from among the rolling billboards...
anything can be a company promo vehicle. the xB just lends itself more nicely than the alternatives.

hehe. I think i saw that one too.
I live near O'Hare in Chicago, and I see first-gen taxis all the time. They're also used as ZipCars, but not so much delivery vehicles. For a time, the Circuit City subsidiary FireDog used them. (I guess Geek Squad beat them to the Beetle.) Thoug they've since switched to HHR's after the first-gens became unavailable.
It's nothing to worry about. Companies just wanted distinctive, eye-catching vehicles to grab peoples' attention. Frankly, I wouldn't be at ALL worried about that particular problem spreading to the Gen 2's. Interpret that as you will. ;)
Though I WISH I could find a Taxi as nice as either xB. The last one I rode in downtown actually made the El seem luxurious by comparison.

Heh, last taxi I rode in Chicago in the late '70s was a classic Chevy (as in '63 Impala) with a MASSIVE engine and a CRAZY driver. I made the mistake of telling him I was late to a meeting at the Conrad Hilton, and all I recall of the ride was roaring down Michigan Ave from Water Tower in excess of 70 at high noon - mostly in the left turn lanes. He got a great tip - mostly for letting me out alive.
The inside of that cab was all roll and pleat, and the engine was VERY authoritative.

(I'd be very curious as to how the xB and xB2 do under 'fleet service' since that sort of use if probably the hardest there is on a vehicle. Anyone have any idea if such information is available anywhere?)
