Where is the Name Change on 08' XB?
What gives,
I always heard that Scion would not use the same names on their cars when they re-designed them. They changed the name on the xA to xD.
But why is the xB replacement still called xB when it is obviously not the same looking car, especially without the rear side window which now is a huge blindspot.
Scion has done us original xb-er's wrong with keeping the name.
That thing should be called the T2B or TxB

well.... so what if it looks different?
did Toyota change the name of the current bB when they brought out the replacement? no...
how about current camrys, solaras, (even other manufacturers (civics, accords, etc..)) that don't look like their previous predecessors?
the xB is a token name for the Scion brand and they chose to recycle the name... as far as the reason being that it doesn't look the same? that's out the door...
but why the xA was replaced with the xD... their choice..
who really knows... but Scion's success roots to their new-age marketing tactics... it's weird... but really... it grows on you and it works..
have faith..

well, I'm glad you asked.

here's the post on it:

Well, regardless of Toyota's decision to retain the xB nameplate (which makes marketing sense, as annoying as that is), they're undeniably massively different vehicles. They don't even have the same engine, fercryin'outloud.
Simpler is better - xB2, B2 for short. As in, "A B2 tried to race me at a stoplight yesterday but forgot his car weighs 500 pounds more," or, "Gee, I hope some nimrod in a Yukon doesn't broadside my box, 'cause then I'll get stuck driving one of them B2's."
Actually, the scary thing is, the 2's are growing on me. @_@
