Default Lowering Spring Cheat Sheet

Thought I would post this up while I'm researching what springs I'm going to go with. These are as listed by the manufactures website. If any of the info is wrong or you have any additional info, post it up and I'll edit this one.

[table7383f753b][mrow7383f753b]Manufacturer[mcol7383f753b]Spring Rate[mcol7383f753b]Drop[row7383f753b] Tein S-Tech[col7383f753b] 3.1/4.1 kgf/mm 174/230 lbs/in[col7383f753b] -1.7/-2.2 in[row7383f753b] Tein H-Tech[col7383f753b] 2.9/3.8 kgf/mm 162/213 lbs/in[col7383f753b] -1.1/-2.1 in[row7383f753b] Tanabe DF210[col7383f753b] 2.4/2.7 kgf/mm 134/151 lbs/in[col7383f753b] -1.7/-2.7 in[row7383f753b] Tanabe NF210[col7383f753b] 2.6/2.6 kgf/mm 146/146 lbs/in[col7383f753b] -1.0/-1.7 in[row7383f753b] Eibach Pro-Kit[col7383f753b].[col7383f753b] -1.0/-1.2 in[row7383f753b] Eibach Sportline[col7383f753b].[col7383f753b]-1.2/-2.2 in[row7383f753b] B+G Suspension[col7383f753b].[col7383f753b]-1.6/-2.2 in[row7383f753b]TRD[col7383f753b].[col7383f753b]-1.0/-1.5 in[row7383f753b]Hotchkis[col7383f753b]250/220 lbs/in[col7383f753b]-1.38/-2.25 in[/table7383f753b]

I was leaning towards the Tanabe DF210 but may bite the bullet and guinea pig the Tein S-Tech springs.

Edit: Still working on it Thanks for the link on the table. Looks way better.

You forgot Hotchkis and TRD, etc.

Anyways, what are you interested in? A big drop, or actual performance? Actual performance IMO, would go to TRD/Eibach Pro-kit or just go Coilovers. A big drop would go to Tein S-Tech/DF210/Sprint.

If you want to make an actual table out of it and make it look a bit more pretty... here's a little tutorial:

Take a look, play around. Makes things like this a lot easier to read.

My goals are all purely aesthetic with my xB so I'm going more for the drop over perfomance.

Well for a quality and cheap drop, go Tanabe DF210s or Eibach Sportlines (both can be bought for around ~170 bucks)

I ended up going with Tein. I'll post pics and a review after it's all said and done.

I just got off the phone with Hotchkis and they said there spring for the Xb is:

Front: 250lbs
Rear: 220lbs.

I'm working on eibach's so hopefully I'll get those soon.

Only thing a little confusing about progressive springs is that it shouldn't be a constant compression I wouldn't think. It should be soft at first and then get stiffer (progressive).

Good stuff. I'll add it to the sticky.

Took a quick (that means horrible cell phone picture because I don't have a digi cam lol) pic of my car with Tein Springs installed. First impression, I like them. Rides nice. Not too harsh and a big drop. I'll post some better pics after my new wheels come in tomorrow and I get them put on.

That pic looks absolutely terrible; beauty drop, but the stockies don't do it justice. I hope you went with 18's or 19's. Looking forward to the new pics. Don't forget to post all the specs for the new wheels & tires.

Lol, yeah... I would invest in a nice-ish digital camera but that would take away money for the xB After seeing how far the drop actually came to (didn't take the best measurements before hand but the the fender height is ~25" F and ~25.5" R with the Tein's as of now), I may have to stay with an 18 or 19. We'll see this afternoon when I go in for a fitting at Discount Tire. I can't wait to tackle the speedbumps in my apartment complex in a few hours when I get off my shift though lol

I had the Eibach Pro Kit springs and the rear was still a bit high, but better. Those springs are a little stiff and handle well compared to the stock springs. I wanted a more level drop, so I picked up some used NF210 springs here on Scionlife. Much better look, and they ride smoooooth. As a trade-off they do not handle as well as the Eibachs. I cruise 95% of the time and rarely drive hard.

If you take a look at that handy chart up top, the TRDs sit right in between the Pro kit and the NF210s. Since the spring rates aren't given it's hard to say how they'll handle.

Even with NF210s I still want it to be about .25" lower in the rear. But I sometimes carry cargo and the height of the rear end changes a lot depending on what I've got in the trunk. That being said I really like the specs of the Tein H-tech springs. If I ever run into a cheap set of those I just might bite. Heck, I've already dropped my car twice - why not a 3rd time?

Also just FYI, even with only a 1" drop in the front, if you try to drive up on ramps like the ones I have pictured, the little flaps that hang down in front of the front wheels will hit the ramps. All I do to get over the hump is give it a quick burst of the gas pedal and it the car will go up the ramps. You can also run some wood boards to make the angle less steep. So basically what I'm trying to say is that with more of a drop than the TRD, NF210, Pro Kit, H-tech, you might run into those types of issues (scraping, going up ramps, etc).
