Default time for brake change

yup, its time, running low on pad life. what are my options? stock rotors and pads are 2-3x more then standard aftermarket. any suggestions? not a racer, just need something low cost, but good quality, to stop.

thanks.

I would get your rotors turned and some high quality ceramic pads from your local autoparts retailer. You get what you pay for. IMHO I like the hawk performance pads. That's what I will be switching to soon. They're about 80 bucks. They leave alot of dust though. Hope this helps.

you dont need to change your rotors,, just get a set of new scion pads,,, you live in cali,, the rotors are prob still mint,, if not take them off and bring them to napa to get them turned,,, call ahead of course to see if they do it in your area.... aftermarket pads are cheaper cause there crap.. if you want your car to squeek like a bus when you stop,, then go for it....

hawk pads are primarily for racing,, thats why there is so much dust,, not really made for normal stop and go traffic...

thanks for the info. i plan to get stock pads, and in regards to the rotors, i have always changed them evrytime i replace pads. this is due to the fact that after i resurfaced rotors in the past, they usually end up getting warped.

they really shouldnt unless the killed them when they cut them,, and easy skim cut shouldnt do anything... i would never just replace my own.... your choice though,, dont get aftermarket rotors though,, most are garbage,,,

question, my pads are low, but no warning squeks yet. do scion's have 'low pad' squelers on the pads? you now, like when the pads are low enough they squel to let you know its time.

yes, but don't always work,, sometimes the don't make enough noise, and or they aren't on the pad that is worn more, usually 1 pad will wear more than the other,, ( a little bit)
