hey if read all my post youll notice dont plan on towing that much weight anymore so no need for that kinda reply.
I understand what everyone has said thats why dont plan to use a huge water tank or gas washer anymore.
The unit I just ordered weights about 20lbs empty + 24lbs more with 3 gallons of water in it then with about another 150 lbs tops worth of gear I will be fine.
Hey if a Smart car can used with same set up for detailing business Im sure XB2 will do fine.
Oh yea and thank you for everyones input

If you're planning to carry any sort of load, I would advise you not to lower your car at all. The added weight will already lower the vehicle, and you will need all the suspension travel you can get. Have you looked into a pickup truck?
i fully agree with this guy, and btw, it's 850 lbs.. assuming it's the same for 2009 models

I don't understand where these negative thinking guys are coming from.
The XB2 has 2 subframes in the rear with 6 nuts mounted into those rails specifically designed to attach a hitch. Curt (U-Haul) makes a hitch for it, here is the installation sheet
http://sitepro12.sitepro.com/masterl..._12490_INS.pdf
The tounge weight is 350 lbs max and they say you can tow upto 3500 lbs i.e. another Xb2. Remember, that weight is on the trailer wheels, not the XB wheels.

The 5x8 U-haul trailer is the max size they will rent to you and if there were any problems, you would think they would be out of buisness with law suits etc and they clearly are not. That trailer weighs 900 lbs leaving quite a bit left for stuff to put in it.
People in England have been towing caravans for years with tiny cars up steep hills. They struggle, but thats half the fun.

What are the limits on towing??? I might be able to get a tow hitch for my bandit (avatar pic)

There are a lot of things I could say, but I'll say this: Try using the xB to stop a 3500lb trailer without a braking controller.

Rich, look at your posted installation sheet. Do not exceed OEM ratings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, people have been doing crazy things with moving and towing usually at 30 MPH tops

Indeed. The hitch itself may support a 350lb tongue load, but its a good bet the handling of the xB will pretty messed up having a 350lb weight past the rear wheels.

***DO NOT EXCEED VEHICLE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDED TOWING CAPACITY.***

Which is 0.

Hmm. I think everyone who thinks you can tow with the xB should read the car manual.

I already know the OP isn't doing this towing plan anymore, which is smart.

But here's the deal: the xB cannot tow anything that heavy. It says it in the manual itself. And if you don't believe me, you're an idiot. Go unlock your front door, walk to your car, pop open your glove box and open the manual. If you can't find the right page, you're an even bigger idiot.

/END THREAD NOW PLEASE lol

Oooh the thread is not locked out yet.
The manual on the same page says it's designed for 5 people weighing 150 lbs each. I'm going to have to go on a serious diet, perhaps even have limbs removed before I drive it next time. The warning on page 182 says (esentially) that if you are driving solo (uneven weight distribution) you will swerve off the road.

I agree with you that the book says don't tow anything. It also says don't use it for a wheelchair carrier, scooter, bicycle etc.

Give me a break!!! a bicycle is going to cause the rear end to fall off!!!
You are reading and interpreting "Lawyer speak" as Gospel.

I will follow the more reasonable U-Haul guidance which is don't tow anything heavier than your vehicle, slow down, increase braking distance. I would prefer a trailer with a trailer brake system, but I'll take what they rent.

Pray for me

Now if you're only doing it basically once, which I assume YOU are, then I suspect you'll be alright.

But if you were towing for an extended period of time, you'd f* up your car.
