Default Need elementary education - Wheels for Dummies 101

Are all wheels forged? Or are some cast? Any preference?

Are there any still made in the USA? Are they cost prohibitive & just for the diehard modder?

Do the number of spokes affect reliability? I have a thing about wanting 7 spokes. Or at least another odd number above 7 - it's just my personal weird brain thing.

I'm thinking about 17's or 18's in a gold or gold/chrome lip. My box is Blackberry Crush and I'll have metallic gold graphics on it.

For custom seat covers, I found some leather skins that are pigment dyed very close to the car color & will use a soft gold metallic leather for inserts.

My DH just rolls his eyes when I talk about the mods I want to do to my little toaster but, hey, it's fun. I'll probably be the only xB at the local cruise-ins.

His reluctance is joined with a general disinterest so I hope y'all can help me along.

Thanks.

I'm a Dudette.

And I thought this was a focused forum for questions and subjects related to our common denominator: xB ownership.

I know how to use Google and every other search engine on the internet.

I want opinions from xB owners.

Do you have one?

If you live near a discount tire place i would suggest talking to them or pming CIONIDE. hes like the one who answers all of our wheel/tire questions. He def knows what hes talking about... Discounttire.com also has a ton of great choices for rims and tires and their prices kick butt

Thanks, y'all. I'm aiming for something under 20#.

I had wondered if the number of spokes could increase weakness or probability of metal failure.

I'm in Cleveland, TN, Beckenbauer...close to Chattanooga.

This will give you a good general education about most things wheel & tire related.
You can pick & choose which subjects you want to get info on.

Thanks, CIONIDE! I'd been to that site but never saw all that info. Definitely answers my questions.

I like your tag line, Swartzautoman. ".....gun.......keyboard."
I'm definitely a proponent of Second Amendment Rights and always carry.

Just didn't want any xb2 owners to think that +15 offset is a standard option that will work on our cars.

Usually forged wheels will be lighter compared to cast. Most inexpensive wheels are cast. Most expensive wheels are forged. Most of the time if they are indeed forged, they will state so.

If you're looking for light wheels, you could look into some from Works and I'd keep the sizing minimal (I.E. 16's or 17's).

Not a very good selection of 7 or 9 spoke gold wheels available, but I applaud you for knowing what you like.
Picking wheels can be one of the hardest modding decisions. I like the Axis Hiros of the three I found, but the OZ's are super light weight. The Maxxim's are just cheap, no other benefit.

they say odd numbers attract more attention from your left side brain, something to do with art or something

True. More pleasing to the eye for most, no matter the item(s).
