Painting the Engine Cover
I want to paint or put on overlay on the plastic engine cover on my super white xD. I need some help on going about with this. Would paint crack from heat? Where could I get some overlays for it, if anyone makes them?
I Just need help in general with this one, I don't know where to start.
Thanks

If you go to your local car shop (pep boys, napa, autozone, and whoever you might have) and in the paint section look for high heat paint. you can paint the plastic and it wont crack or discolor too easily. i used it as a cheap way to get JDM style rims on my accord, and the paint was awesome, never cracked or chipped.
as for overlays i wouldn't know too much about them, but i would think that if the plastic can live in that temp without cracking or melting then a vynal overlay should survive it.

when you put the tape on it, as long as you tape it fully down, youll see the pattern of the toyota/vvt-i/etc. and you can take an exacto knife and cut around it, peel off the surrounding portions, and it will be covered sufficiently
It would probably be easier to paint the letters without masking, then wait for it to cure and then mask off what you want to remain black, then paint the rest of it (covering up the black overspray).
Hydrographics, thats what I'm thinking about doing with mine. This is the company I'm going to use, just because they are close, but there are a lot of them to choose from, check it out...
