So my xD is sputtering while idling, having a delay in reaction time for acceleration, and jerky shifting. I had the issue back in the day with my 97 Civic. I replaced the fuel filter and it fixed the problem. But the xD doesn't have a fuel filter??? It has a sock?? That's what Toyota told me and it's like 500+ to fix. Anyone else have this issue? I bought the car brand new and it has 109,000 miles on it. I've used the fuel cleaners in the past to help maintain the car because I did a lot of driving the first 3 years I owned it.

Any help would be much appreciated!

I'd check to see what codes you are getting, and check the condition of the plugs first.

No codes, just changed the plugs because I thought the plugs were the problem at first because I'd never changed them with 109,000 miles.

If you have zero codes as well as new plugs, I'd be looking to see if you have a plugged/collapsed catalytic converter. Or check to see if you have water in your gas.
