2008 Scion xD 7.1 Navigation System
Does anyone know how to hack the 7.1 Navigation system. If not, does anyone have the 5.1 or 6.1 Navigation disc they are willing to trade or sell?
Please PM me or email me at prestonjensen@mac.com
Thank you!!

Sorry I can't help you with an older disk but I also have a 06 4Runner, the sport edition which did not have the opiton for navigation.
BUT one of the toyota forums gave detailed insturctions on how to make it work. I took all the information printed out from the forum and gave it to the dealer. They were able to install it in the 4runner and make everything work just like factory.
The unit I bought online has the option to over ride the controls. I was told that if I update the maps, it will update the entire system and the over ride will no longer be available.
BUT they also said that if you burn a CD and only copy the maps, you can update only the map portion and leave the actual operations alone.
I would assume if someone were to downgrade to an older version that had the over ride, then upgrade only the maps, it would be the best of both worlds.
My buddy just bought a new Honda CRV and everything works on the nav system when the vehicle is in motion. This is the one thing I'm disapointed in about Toyota. At least provide the over ride.

Man, I'm sorry I am not at ome. I won't be for at least a month to check through stuff. I really sorry, but taht'a abot the best I can do for you. I'm about 800 miles from home working.
If theoriginal DVD is a version 5 or 6 I should have it, I only have the one that stays in the car at all times, but I would be happy to burn and send you a copy, but like I said, it will be a while before I'm home to do it.

In most cases, you're not able to downgrade the disc once a newer version is inserted.
If you still want to try and find one, look for Toyota Gen5 Disc. Found on:
2006 Prius, Sienna, 4Runner
2007 Prius, Camry, Sienna, 4Runner, Solara, Tundra
Here's a note on our nav disc info sheet:

Code:
Service Installation Caution Upon installation of the new DVD, the system will automatically update. After the update, the navigation system will only support the new DVD version. The NAV system will no longer read the replaced DVD.
