Going to put an amp below the front passenger seat, just wanted to make sure it is ok to take the seat out. I know there is a plug connected to the air bag system, so is it ok to disconnect that plug to remove the seat? What are some precautions I should know about before doing this?

idk for sure but i think nothing will happen as long as you connect it again once you put the seat back in. that's a no brainer. you may want to disconnect the battery so you don't trip out the computer. again, idk for sure, just a thought

 

I took my seats out to install my Clazzio seat covers and did not disconnect the battery and had ZERO problems...You will be fine...

yeah... i'm still getting over this flu, and last night i didn't read the post properly.

i'm thinking of dumping my 12 " set-up in the hatch and putting like an 8 under the passenger seat.

Ahh gotcha, still trying to help though! There really is an amazing amount of room underneath the passenger seat.

 

that is true, i put my power supply for my emergency four corner hide away strobe kit under there. wires run under the door sills and through the dash to the engine and to the rear lights.

So, my subs (8 years old) I think are dead. As long as I keep the bass low, it is ok, as soon as I start to crank it, they sound blown. But aside from that, the rest sounds beautiful.

Dash? What dash? All this to get the power wire from the battery.

 

Did you install sound deadening insulation in the doors, dash, and under carpet? It makes a huge difference in sound quality. That's one of the next projects on my list!

 

I haven't, but I will. I did put some double sided tape around the problem areas under the dash and wow did it help with rattles! This summer I will be building a box that sits in the spare tire area and will add the sound dampening then. I am still undecided about which sub to use but I am pretty set on using http://www.secondskinaudio.com/ for the sound deadening.

 

That seems like a ton of work to run a positive wire, you couldn't just drill a hole through the firewall?

 

It wasn't just to run the wire, I wanted to stop the rattles as well. Not only that, it is really quite easy to take the top half of the dash off.

 

Got some more work done. I have purchased a new sub (JL 12W0v2) to replace the 8s you see here. The 8s have had the surrounds replaced and they are too small. The surround doesn't stretch far enough so when I turn up the volume the cone/coil doesn't stay properly aligned. Aside from that, it sounds great. Got the bass **** and 100 amp fuse in the center console area and the amp rack finished.

Ok here goes. This is my first attempt at making a box that is something other than a rectangle. I should also mention I have no table saw or router, so circular saw and *gasp* jig saw. First flush mounting attempt and first false floor so be nice. I have no trim pieces yet but here is where the box stands now.

(Is there a way to rename a thread? This is not really about my seat any more. )
