Lightbulb Navigation Headunit Recommendations

I'm wanting to upgrade my stock headunit to a navigation type headunit and I'm just beginning my search. I was looking for some personal recommendations from people.

1. Its gotta fit in my xD of course.
2. I'm not fixated on a single brand.
3. I want to be able to continue to use my steering wheel controls.
4. Decent navigation of course.
5. Integration with my iPhone is a must. Not so much for making calls but playing music, oh yea. And being able to forward thru or skip back thru songs on the iPhone from the steering wheel controls like I can with with the stock headunit would be a huge bonus and is almost a must.
6. Would like to keep budget around $800 or so if possible. But if something is amazingly outstanding, could probably scrape up more moola.

Cant think of any other requirements at this time. I'm just sick of my iPhone 4's music play back randomly cutting out on the stock head unit as well as having to stick my hand held GPS to my windshield when I need GPS and figure a headunit upgrade would solve both problems.

Double DIN is ours, and you could always get a harness to put a radio in. Almost any will work, as long as size is right, and harness matches.

im a big fan of the kenwood double din units, they are pricey but i love them and the navigation was super easy to use.

Thanks for all the info. So, if I went with one of the Scion radios, I'm guessing I wouldnt need the steering wheel control adaptor?

I've used the pioneer AVIC D and Z series before , imo some of the better nav units on the block.

the newer AVIC series arent that bad either. had a buddy running one in his fit for a while.
