September... ugh... wish I didn't prefer this car so much to the others I've been looking at. I'm holding out hope for mid-August. I'd very much like to have the car by the end of the summer as my current mode of transportation is a Schwinn Trailway Hybrid Bicycle... it gets good gas mileage, but its severely underpowered.

What kind of fuel does your Hybrid Bicycle run on? Regular? Premium? Evian Water?

Cigarettes and beer. Have any suggestions for some cool mods to my bike? Maybe I can put some hydraulics on it.

PS - The guy at one of the local Scion dealers told me that he talked to his Scion rep yesterday and there's a bit of a lag right now because of the Port strike... but that everything that comes in next will be 09 xDs (he guessed 4 weeks, give or take). He has one Black Automatic on the lot... crap... why can't it be a 5-speed?

I just filled out the paper work for my 09 yesterday here in kansas city. They put it on a priority order. The dealership made a huge mistake in there trade in offer and after contacting attorneys they went ahead and stuck with what they told me. They want this to be over a soon as possible. They got there allocation today and they said it usually takes about 3 weeks to hit the lot after the allocation. He said first week in August the third week if something really screws up. It was fun sitting in a conference room with the dealership new car manager and the owners of the car lot and watching them about blow there top at the dealer I had been working with. I ve never seen a dealership blink first but they did because the owners did not want there name associated with the screw up.

Ah-ha! So since the dealerships are getting their allocations, when the salesperson said "There will not be many released at any particular time, but we have an opportunity to request vehicles." he was feeding me a line of BS just to get me to order one?

Probably not... my guess is that all of the first delivered vehicles will be spoken for by pre-orderers... but that's just a guess.

My guess is that some of them will be pre purchased then you will be waiting for the next delivery 2 more months down the road. The dealership I went to has not had an xd on the lot since mid June. They will sell most of the next shipment before they hit the lot. They have an xd they purchased just so that they have one for test drives so that people can pre order. They cant even keep them on the lost long enough for people to test drive. This is coming from a dealership that sold 25 new cars last saturday in a horrible rain storm. So take that for what it is worth. I dont know how busy your local dealer is.

Guess I better tell my salesman I want a test drive when the new ones come in, so I can order one if it's going to take 2 months to get here.

yea it all depends but scion likes to keep a 30 day worth of cars and they admited they were a little behind with allocations lately, but we all get wish lists for our allocation dependin on how many we sell and what we sell. and like kcxd said its like the cars come in, they are already sold to someone. and none to test drive. we had a time where we had not one tc stick or auto to drive. that was bad
