2009-2010 model question
So, I own a 2010 scion XD. Recently I have been looking at getting a new stereo but I noticed the stock head units are kinda odd shaped. So after some research I found out that they are "corporate" double din.
So I went to sonicelectronix.com and found the stereo I wanted but they don't have the 2010 scion xd listed in their list. It just says 2009 as their latest update.
So, I tried some more Digging to find out how similar the 09-10 head units were. Sam shape. Different look.
My question is whether or not both models use the same mounting kits and wiring harness. It says the stereo fits a 2009 scion xd. Also, when it says "this will fit your 2009 scion xd" does it mean flawlessly or is it gonna look very stupid and hanging out of the module

Head unit: Sony xav 70b
If you decide to look into it you have to put in the vehicle info to view the right pAges.

i doubt same wiring harness for the "aux" and "USB" connections. Considering the 2009 had the special Scion iPod port. I don't think those ports would work. The steering wheel controls and everything else would work, just no aux or USB connectivity.
Hmm. Well it'd be nice if I can get those to work but it's not too big of a deal. The stereo has bluetooth. Though, not being able to charge my iPhone via USB anymore would suck.
Toyota has not changed the pinout of the radio harness in something like 25 years. They have added stuff i.e. usb but the main harness is the same. Typically you would buy a harness for the car and solder it(color coded) to the harness that comes with the radio to make something of an adapter between the radio and the car. The radio will most likely have it's one usb port either on the front or in the back(route a wire to the glove box). There is an adapter that will allow you to use the steering wheel controls but I can't remember(axxes I think).
I looked at a pic of the back of a 2010 xD radio and compared it to the back of my 2009 xD radio, and not all of the connections are the same. I'm guessing the difference is because of the USB port, which is what I was trying to upgrade to... but it looked to me like it would not work. I could certainly be wrong, though.
You may also need this, as the Scion factory double DIN size is just a little bigger than the standard DIN size:
